Kompia for Lunch....

Yes, kompia. One of Sibu's traditional food or maybe it can be categorized as a delicacy because it couldn't be found elsewhere. Not many places I mean. Well, I am glad to be back and being able to eat it.

Early in the morning, dad woke me up to follow him to the market to buy some pork to make the sauce to put with the kompia. Well, you can use chicken if you want but the traditional Foo Chow style is using pork and the style of cooking is very traditional.

When it comes to food, my dad loves to experiment. The story is that he missed the kompia he had when he was in his school days. The sad part was the old man making the traditional kompia passed away without revealing his secret recipe. I guess his children were not interested in continuing the family business 9if he had children that is). Well, my dad did not stop till he tried over and over again. Well, after some modifications in his own recipe, we get to taste the kompia he tasted from his childhood.

So that is what I had today for lunch. Juicy and tasty kompia. Looks good right? Well, I better ask my dad for the recipe. Well, for those who are interested. Just fly down to Sibu town and try Kompia. There are a few places where I can introduce you to eat kompia. Who knows, If you are lucky, I will cook up a batch of the sauce for you and we shall enjoy kompia together.

Will try to get some pictures of how they make and bake the kompia. It is very interesting I tell ya. Will post up more pictures of food when I remember to take photos of it before I forget and indulge in it. HAHA....
