DATUM 2009 (a)...

Okay, before I continue to introduce the works the architects from DATUM who presented, I think I better explain why I went back to K.L. for 5 days only. I mean, you know why but.... Okay, never mind. The reason I spontaneously decided to go to DATUM was because the firm I worked for this holiday, Kumpulan Design, asked me whether I would like to join the conference. And they asked me just a week before the event so it all depended on the price of the air tickets. They told me they will sponsor everything from accommodation and the event and all I have to do is to book my flight there. So, thanks to my dad and thanks to MAS airline competing with Airasia, I managed to get a good deal. RM 82 x2 + RM 74 tax = RM 238 for a return trip to K.L. is not bad indeed. So, I told my manager yes, and thats is why I went to DATUM. And best thing was, it was considered as a company trip so it still part of "work". HAHA.

But sadly to say, my prosumer was not back yet so I had to rely on my compact camera to take these photos. I love the sky on this photo. Sunrise at KLCC park. Yes, I spent 3 days at K.L. Convention Centre listening to lectures. But due to where I stayed, had to wake up early to catch the monorail to KLCC.

Besides the lectures, there was an expo where architects, designers, developers and the public can visit to see what new technologies in the market. Besides that, the archi book sold were cheap. I got some magazines for a good price.

On Friday night, I had the opportunity to join the architects, designers and colleagues from the firm I was working for dinner at the Royale Chulan Hotel.

Which I later found out was one of the works of the firm.

The menu for the night...... I had fun chatting with the architects and the designers there. Need to somehow thank the boss one I finish my training.

Well, besides the food from the hotel, the lunch which was prepared for DATUM was so good. Not sure who catered the food but boy was it good. Wait till you see the deserts (which I not have pictures of at the moment because I used my colleague's DSLR. So have to wait till I get the pictures.)

Yummy food!!!

Oh yea, not forgetting that I met up with many of the Taylorians including the lecturers who joined this event.

It was indeed an enjoyable experience. Well, the last time I will be joining DATUM till I graduate and if I come back to Malaysia to work as an Architect. Well, that is all in the future. And to anticipate it now will be too early.
More posts on the architects soon.... One at a time....

Now I need to ZzzzzzZZzzzz......

Delugan is practical in a way.. But who is to judge? Architects are dreamers, dreamers can dream that things they design are practical whereas when others see it, it is least practical? HAHA.. Correct?

I am not defending Delugan.. Just stating my view on Architects in General
