SABD SPOoKFEST, 26/10/2009

Congratulations to the SABD Society for successfully planing and heading the SABD SPOOKFEST on the 26th October 2009! The event was (after three years in the Course) the largest and the loudest event ever organised by the SABD Society. It all started last year *click to read* when the board decided to come up with such events to give life to the faculty and it continued this year with many more participants and many more activities to see who dressed the "worst" for Halloween. Too bad today was our studio's interim and not many dressed up for the event due to stress. But I tried my best but ended up distributing sweets from a skull with bloody hands.

My Halloween buddy...
This is what sleep deprivation can lead too.

Armed with nothing but my camera phone [My camera died on me :( ], here are some of the scenes from the event today. Not many photos but please, enjoy.....

Pasar Seni AGAIN?!! SABD March Intake Orientation Day, 5/4/09

Well, this is my last time helping or joining any orientation days for SABD. Next semester will be too hectic for club activities. So here it is, my last post for SABD orientation days. Well, truth be told, I am not supposed to be here. HAHA... It was the last day for the K.L. Design Week so made plans with a couple of friends to see the exhibitions, since I didn't manage to finish looking at all the exhibitions the last time I went.

For the March Intake Orientation day, the society decided to allow the QS (Quantity Surveyors) students to run the orientation day since not many of them were active with SABD. Well, the picture above are most of the organisers for this event. *Finally got to know some QS people.* Well, kudos to the organisers on their success on the planning of the orientation day even though it was their first time. Oh yea, need to thank those archi people who helped out too.

And here are those who participated for the orientation day. Hope you had fun.

Ah yes... There are these moments when camera attacts. HAHA.

Archi helpers...

Oii.. Snap my pic for what? I snap back...

Well, after the usual walk about around K.L. and having lunch, the newbies came back and started on their final activity for the day. No, its not sculpture making again. This time, it was an art banner where the newbies were to paint a mural to express what they felt about K.L. or anything actually.

And while everyone was working hard.

The organisers were just chilling around, taking pictures. (Crystal, first from left is the chairperson for this event. And guess what... SHE RABBIT TOO!! Yay, finally another rabbit in SABD and I thought I was the oldest. HAHA.)

And just laughing....

4 out of the 6 banners... Well, my prosumer's battery died on me so I couldn't take pictures of all the banners. Had to use the compact but the pictures didn't turn out that great. Oh well, what I have is what will do. HAHA...

So in typical SABD fashion, we had a final crit and presentation and the winners were anounced. Sorry if I don't feel enthusiastic about taking pictures because well, it kind of gets redundant after going to Pasar Seni so many times. And for the same thing. But overall, it was indeed a success and at least I got to know some QS people... Oh yea... One of them said I looked like a Hamster.. WTH!!!! Ok, nevermind..... Whatever...... :P

After taking the group picture, it was time for us to leave!!!
Some of the Newbies joined us for the K.L. Design week Exhibition at Cap Square K.L. Thanks Jun Win for Driving me and Najat to Cap Square. Yes, it was definately a scary experience when your car sort of died in the middle of a busy road.

Thank goodness by the time we reached there, the Secret tent Bazaar was still open and we can see vendors sitting in their tents selling their products. Mostly art stuff.

This stall had some pretty cool stuff.

For cat and art lovers...

Well, the exhibitions were pretty much the same from the last week I visited but this time, I managed to read up on their descriptions and explore more of the art put in.

The doodle wall was interesting. Anyone can draw on it... Some were interesting. But some were disturbing. Sorry, didn't take pictures of the disturbing ones.

Oh yea, the bunny looks different in the day...

But this is still my favourite.... So nice... I wish I can draw like this. I shall practice and practice till I get it. HAHA....

After Cap Square, met up with Tricia and her friend at Sungai Wang then headed for dinner at Jalan Alor. Had a nice chat with both of them but the food was sort of dissapointing. Sorry, no pictures. Well, Compact camera battery was also dead by dinner time. How sad... Forgot to fully charge the compact.

Twas an interesting Saturday. And the final relaxing weekend I should say... Because....
ITS WEEK 12 PEOPLE!!!!!
2 more weeks till WEEK 14!!!!
Semester 5 is almost over... STUDIO 3 WORK IS DUE SOON!!!!
TIME TO PANIC!!!!!!

Okay, back to work........ Ciaoz......

TCPJ Campus Day, 22/3/2009

I was working yesterday. On a Sunday. At college. As... A photographer. Okay, enough with the short sentences. Yesterday, I "volunteered" to be a helper/photographer for TCPJ's Campus day with a Wai Sie, Li Qun, Darren, Hau Yee, Najat, Chong Wai, Aaron L and Benjamin. The last three mentioned were working with me as photographers while the rest were to give parents a tour of the college and see the respective classes, studios, etc. the students will be using. And for the photographers, we were to take pictures of parents and their children when they came, and then rush to develope their pictures and then later pass it to them after it was developed. Sounds like an easy job? Yes and no. Yes because it was fun, snapping photos then developing it then looking for them after the pictures are developed but doing this for 8 hours gets a bit redundant and boring in the end.

While working, don't forget to service with a smile.

The redundancy of the day was saying: "Good morning, would you like a complimentary photo by Taylors. It is like a souvenir for visiting the Campus day." But, it was great to see how some reacted and were willing to let us snap a photo of them. Some just didn't bother. *Getting rejected hurts...* HAHA... Just joking. I am getting paid for rejection anyway...

After taking their photographs, there were then escorted into the Multi-purpose hall to enquire about the courses they were interested in then later were given a Tour (if they wanted) of the campus.
Here are some scenes in the Hall.

Need help? Find these counsellors. They will brief you on the courses you are interested in.

Some parents did approach us and ask us about how the college was and all. All we could do was to be honest and voiced out opinion. Taylors is a good college but its not 100% perfect. Every institution have their flaws. Besides, its not where you graduate, its about your passion in learning and how you plan your future. * I sound like I am promoting the college* HAHA.... Hopefully someone from the head office sees this. *hem hem promoting reward Hem Hem*.

Well, the day went pretty well. Thanks to the DJ who playes some awesome music to entertain us standing outside the hall. Got to know him a bit. But I forgotten his name. So if anyone recognise him or if the DJ reads this post. Do comment on it, intro yourself.

*Rip it up mr. DJ.*

But the best part was to be able to hang out with friends and seeing them doing stupid poses. But its a must keep.

Super posers. *From left: Hau Yee, Najat, Jason, Darren, Li Qun, Wai Sie and ermm.. forgot his name already but he is from SABD too.

Wai Sie and Hau Yee after coming back from giving a tour.

Random moments captured on camera.

And the best part about working is that, you get to know new faces and making new friends.

Ermmm... Not going to tag any incase name wrong. HAHA.. *Paiseh...*

But at the end of the day....
Its just great fun..... So pose for the camera...

And not forgetting,

SABD- School Of Architecture, Building and Design.

Oh ya... don''t forget the staff.

Who worked so hard and were tired but still willing to pose for the camera.

After working from 9 A.M. till 530 P.M. and getting our pay which is RM40 (I know, its not much), the People in Black cam-whored in front of the college.

We are cool people...

And after chilling on the steps for half an hour, the gang decided to go to Ampang look-out-point to watch the sunset and maybe grab something to eat. Wai Sie and Chong wai had to go home first but replacing them were Gordon and Sherman who were doing work in the Digital Lab.

This shows how tired we were.

Reached the peak of the look-out-point just in time to get these shots. Me love the sunset.

But then, my battery went dead so had to resort to using my compact camera. But i still managed to take a nice shot of Kuala Lumpur at night.

KL City at night

That is all for this post. Well, lets see.. Work for 8 hours earn RM40, 3 hours later, spent RM20.. Arghhhh..... Money is hard to save....
Well, for those who want the photos, just contact me at aaroncwl@live.com or just comment on the comment box and I will send the photos to you.
